Family Sponsorship

Bring Your Loved Ones Home to Canada

Family is the heartbeat of a successful life in Canada. Whether you are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, the Family Sponsorship program is the primary pathway to reunite with your loved ones and build a future together.

The Canadian government prioritizes family reunification, offering specialized streams for spouses, children, and parents. However, the application process is rigorous, requiring a legally binding financial commitment and extensive proof of relationship. At our firm, we specialize in navigating these complexities to ensure your family’s transition is as seamless and secure as possible.

Primary Sponsorship Pathways

Canada’s sponsorship categories are designed to accommodate different family structures. Understanding which stream fits your situation is the first step toward a successful outcome.

1. Spousal, Common-Law, and Conjugal Partner Sponsorship

This category is for those looking to sponsor a partner for permanent residency.

  • Spouse: For legally married partners.

  • Common-Law Partner: For partners who have cohabited for at least 12 consecutive months.

  • Conjugal Partner: For those in a committed relationship for at least one year who cannot live together or marry due to exceptional legal or social barriers (Outland only).

  • Work Permit Advantage: Inland applicants may be eligible for an Open Work Permit while their PR application is being processed.

2. Sponsoring Dependent Children

You can bring your biological or adopted children to Canada as permanent residents.

  • Age Requirement: Children must generally be under the age of 22 and not married.

  • Exceptions: Children over 22 may qualify if they depend on their parents financially due to a physical or mental condition.

3. Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) & Super Visa

While the PGP operates on an invitation-only lottery system, there are other ways to keep your parents close.

  • PGP: A pathway to permanent residency with a 20-year financial undertaking.

  • Super Visa: A high-value alternative that allows parents and grandparents to visit Canada for up to 5 years at a time, with multiple entries valid for up to 10 years.

The Sponsor’s Responsibility: The Financial Undertaking

When you sponsor a relative, you sign a contract with the Government of Canada called an Undertaking. This is a promise to provide for the basic needs of your family members (food, shelter, and clothing) so they do not require social assistance.

  • Spouse/Partner: 3-year financial commitment.

  • Dependent Children: 10 years (or until the child turns 25).

  • Parents/Grandparents: 20-year financial commitment.

Why Work with a Lead Strategist?

Relationship proofing is the most common reason for sponsorship delays or refusals. “Genuine relationship” is a subjective standard used by IRCC officers; our role is to make your case undeniable.

The Skylarks Promise

Your family’s future deserves a foundation of absolute clarity. Our promise is simple: Zero ambiguity. From hard-truth eligibility audits to a transparent fixed-fee structure, we eliminate the uncertainty of the “sponsorship maze.” We safeguard your investment with the highest standards of Canadian regulatory integrity.
