Compassion Meets Opportunity: Immigrate as a Caregiver

Caregivers are the backbone of Canadian families, providing essential support to children, seniors, and those with medical needs. Canada deeply values this contribution and has created dedicated immigration pathways to ensure that those who care for our loved ones have a clear, secure route to calling Canada “home.”

The Caregiver Pilot Programs—including the Home Child Care Provider and Home Support Worker pilots—are designed to recognize your skills. Whether you are already working in Canada or applying from abroad, these programs offer a structured transition to Permanent Residency (PR) for you and your family.

Strategic Pathways to Permanent Residency

The current caregiver pilots are built on a “Gaining Experience” model, allowing you to secure a work permit, gain your experience, and transition directly into PR status.

1. Home Child Care Provider Pilot (NOC 44100)

This stream is for those dedicated to the growth and safety of children.

  • Core Role: Providing care for children under age 18 in a private home setting.

  • Key Benefit: You can live in or out of your employer’s home, offering flexibility in your living arrangements.

2. Home Support Worker Pilot (NOC 44101)

This stream supports those caring for seniors or individuals with disabilities.

  • Core Role: Assisting with daily living, personal care, and home management in a private residence.

  • Key Benefit: Includes roles like nurse aides and patient service associates when the care is provided in a home setting.

Essential Eligibility Requirements

To lead a successful application, you must meet specific federal standards that demonstrate your ability to integrate into the Canadian workforce.
